This Too Shall Pass

I miss the era of blissful days,

Lost in a time of lavender and ocean spray,

Together we could do anything,

I thought you loved me,

Bound together by celestial whisperings,

Aloft in our own world of sweet nothings,

Your body, my instrument,

I thought you wanted me.

But amidst the rain and soaked cotton,

Of a night not easily forgotten,

Through sorrow and worry you changed,

I thought you knew me.

The sky surrendered to gray,

And the sun had gone away,

You never had time to spare,

I thought you cared for me.

You severed the cord,

Connecting us together forever,

You went away and I was left alone,

I thought you would return to me.

It’s been quite some time,

Since we were intertwined,

I thought you would miss me,

But I ended up needing you.
