The Tree

Shorts on
Smiling wide
Down the sidewalk
Strolling, strolling

In the distance
He treasured her
Calling, calling

They exchanged lovely words
And were joy for all to see
A perfect boy and girl
Carving hearts on a tree

Jeans on
Smiling still
Down the sidewalk
Waiting, waiting

In his pocket
He felt his phone
Ringing, ringing

He recieved the terrible word
And looking afar to see
The love that they once shared
Carved onto a tree

Snowpants on
Smiles hide
Down the sidewalk
crying, crying

In reality
He knew their love was
dying, dying

He couldn't say a word
Was sad for all to see
Fearfully all alone
'Neath the leafless tree
