Troublesome Thoughts

Thoughts are all in my head now

Used to, they’d cartwheel

out down my tongue,

swim through the air

giggling at the trouble they’d cause.

Then they would daintily tiptoe into the ear of

every teacher, friend, and passerby they shouldn’t.

“What did she say?” one would exclaim

“Kara, stop talking!” I’d get from them all

eventually

I just couldn’t stop them.

“I didn’t mean that…” was my motto

Found out recently that I had ADHD

Explains a lot.

medicine helps

Now the thoughts are in my head

And people can hear my heart

This is good

Sometimes the thoughts get too excited

A little restlessness in their feet

When their itching reach a point

They spill out through the waterslide that is my pen

Onto the pages where they are safe

And can cause no harm
