Turning Tides

An ocean of things I could be good at
but nothing I do turns out right.
A sea of words I could have said
but I never spoke them once.
These waters I could be navigating
yet I am utterly, hopelessly lost.
All the waves of laughter and smiles that hit me
but they don’t take me anywhere.
A lighthouse, a life raft, a boat I’m searching for
and there’s nothing, nothing anywhere.

I am drowning.
