Two Brothers

Location

Two brothers, identical, both with the kindest of heart,

One was a holy man, one was was smart,

Children they once were, youthful and carefree,

But no more,

Like most children, they grew up,

Now they’re deadlocked in war,

They’ve gathered their believers, disciples, each the bravest of men,

They’ve gathered their courage, their spears, their swords,

No longer did anyone consider the power of words,

But, alas, that’s how the world worked,

Terrible things lurked,

Deeds were done in the name of each,

Terrible deeds,

Though both men of virtue,

Their hearts were poisoned, and so their thoughts,

About the other,

Though brothers were the same in every way,

No kinder,

No bolder,

No smarter,

The smart man felt his brother to be naïve,

The holy man felt his brother had no heart,

Though both were the same,

But one was pious, one was smart,

War raged on, men fell in blood and fire,

The brothers’ love for the other was thrown onto a pyre,

This war goes on,

It is almost down to the last man,

What will become of these once great friends,

Will they possibly make amends,

Though both equal in strength, in heart, in brain,

One being holy, one being smart,

Will one somehow overcome the other,

Who will win, who will lose?
