“Eyebrows on fleek, selfie game strong, always 100”
More like eyebrow filler, Instagram filter, phony pretender
“Long hair don't care, thug life, hashtag boss”
More like extensions, getting pension, hashtag pretension

I wonder when we all decided we had to be so “fake”?
Why isn't being me in all my authenticity okay?

I don’t take great selfies and sometimes a filter won't even help
But why do I feel like I need to use one to show myself?
Oh yeah that's right because my skin isn't perfect and my teeth aren't straight
My boobs aren't perky and I'm not the perfect weight
My hair is a frizzy mess and my clothes aren't brand name
If I don't use a filter and hashtag everything in the pic I'm lame

I wonder when we all decided to accept fake as real?
I wonder when we decided plastic looked better than our natural sex appeal?

Society says “be yourself”
But when you are they give you hell
They'll call you ugly, lame, weird, and fat
They'll make fun of you, sit back and laugh
But since I refuse to filter myself for them anymore,  I'll say I don't give a fuck
Because I'm starting to realize pleasing everyone else isn't as important as pleasing myself
And I’d rather be ugly, lame, weird, and a size 33
Than fake, worried what other people think, and living in misery.
