Under a Different Light

It's a great night for homecoming

The weather's just right for pretty dresses

A crescent moon hangs in the scene

And some stars twinkle in the heavens

I can imagine my classmates' faces

Chatting, laughing, going crazy

Just another day in the life of teenagers

Making some insane new memories

I can imagine them talking

When it's all finally over

"OMG, it was the best night EVER!"

"Hey, were they actually dating?"

It's a beautiful night for homecoming

But instead I'm here at home

Writing yet another poem-

Because heck, I'm not going.
