Under the Surface

Looking out to just a sea of blue.

Waves crash,

Birds sing.

Everything's fine, as we see.

Going for a swim,

Running to the waves,

Ready to immerse ourselves.

Feeling the salt on our skin,

We keep going.

Further out we go,

Deeper,

And

Deeper it gets.

Calmer it seems.

Surface shows peace and harmony.

Googles applied,

We go further down.

Expecting to see shells.

Disappointed we are.

Bottles pile up,

Bags float by.

Blue Surface.

-------------------------------

Feet in the sand,

Laughs can be heard.

Running along,

Beauty is seen.

Sharp pain is felt.

Hiding is glass

Blood drips out,

On the beautiful sand.

-------------------------------

Snow showering down,

Caught on our tongues,

Snowman built.

Sliding on the ice.

Fuzzy bellies sliding by,

Squawking heard,

Webbed orange feet prance.

Diving in the icy depths.

Happy to be free.

Diving further down,

Rings mistaken for food,

Heads stuck,

Cant breath.

Plastic surrounds.

Population Decreases.
