Unraveling

We haven’t talked in months Then suddenly you text me out of the blue Caught me way off guard And I don’t know what to do. There’s an empty feeling in my chest, A hole where my heart should be My mind’s all full of clutter And I’m stumbling as I speak. So I keep on asking Why? Why? Why do I still feel this way? Why? Why? Why do I feel so ashamed? Cause every time I hear your name I solemnly remember my mistakes Your haunting me, haunting me. I can’t escape this moment My heart’s stopped; I can’t breathe I’m sick to my stomach I can’t think straight; I can’t sleep. Why does this have to be so hard? I’m losing my strength An emotional wreck A train off its tracks I can’t turn back The hands of time No alibi No reasons why Just questions unanswered And my heart, shattered. What’s happening to me? I thought I said goodbye But to see your name again Brought an old, familiar pain An old, familiar aching In the core of my chest The center of my universe Unraveling As I see your lips form The sound of my name A bittersweet taste on the Tip of your tongue.
