No, I am not a teacher,

That I will admit,

But I've long been a student

And I think I've learned a bit

About how classrooms works

When one is good or one is bad

If a teacher knows their stuff

Or is a belligerent cad.

One of the rules of good teaching,

I shouldn't need to confide,

Is that the student and the teacher

Are both on the same side.

How is a student to learn

If the teacher won't teach,

Only grumble about disinterest,

And about note-taking preach?

What too few teachers recall,

And what students require:

We're on the same team.

Grasp this, or retire.
