be my Ursula
reach down my throat and rip out the folds
that bind me to this constant hiding place
of insecurity and self-loathing

steal my one escape - force me to walk on my own
destroy this throne I've so long rested upon
pull the towel from my body and bear my all to the world
pierce my lungs so I can barely gasp a breath
tape my mouth and bind my breasts, so all that is left
is the young girl wandering inside - lost behind this talent
given to her from the beginning, crippling her, forcing her to use it,
consuming her every facet so that she has become the voice
and the voice has become her
