Veiled

Location

I could stay up all night with my knees to my chin

And whisper about the conundrum I'm in.

But if the most trustworthy ears in the world were to be found,

I'd trust no one at a bush to not beat around.

And furthermore, why my reserve I'll never budge

Is because who in this world is entitled to judge?

No matter how accepting a person professes to be

Behind telltale eyes lies contempt and pity.

So stop demanding that I become fully transparent,

The fact that there's nothing to gain in that is apparent.

I'm hideous and insecure, I've sinned and I've failed.

There's your answer, now stop wondering why I am veiled.
