Venom

They pulled me into circles,

Prodded me towards crowds.

“I’m not shy, I’m just quiet.”

They strutted towards boys,

Flipped their hair, laughed too loud.

“I’m not shy, I’m just quiet.”

They snapped at me and sighed,

Crossed their arms across their chests.

“I’m not shy, I’m just quiet.”

They stopped inviting me to parties,

Ignored me in the halls.

“I’m not shy, I’m just quiet.”

They whispered things behind my back,

Gossiped and told lies.

“I’m not shy, I’m just quiet.”

They hated me for who I was,

Couldn’t accept that I wasn’t the same.

“I’m not shy, I’m just quiet.”
