The Very Essence Of My Being

I am fire

Blind rage attacking a blank page

I started as a small flame

Campers slowly added branches, paper, and pollution

I became too large to contain

I am fire

The energy that keeps you warm in the winter

The gas that feeds mouths of the hungry

The force that consumes your heart

And spits it out as ash

I am fire

I can warm souls

Feed the poor

Guide those in the dark

Or destroy

You decide what my purpose is for you
