The Void Says Goodbye

I smile as your arms wrap around me.

What more do I need

When you surround me?

The darkeness is soothing--

It silences the struggles of the day.

The emptiness of your embrace

Sheilds me from the pain

Of the sun and its troubles.

I sink deeper into your embrace,

But suddenly,

You are gone and I am falling,

Reaching for something that's not there.

I start awake--

I stare at my ceiling and sigh.

The faint echoes fade away--

Your goodbye is ringing in my ears.

Void, where have you gone?

Void, why did you go?

Void, I desperately need you.

I wait out the night

And the sun breaks through

Without you coming back.

After the sun's fall,

I wait for you to come.

I've been waiting, Void.

I wait until the sun faithfully returns,

Bringing her burdens with her.

The next night you stop in to say hello,

But before I can hug you,

You're gone.

Where did you go?

Void, why won't you stay?

Months go by like this.

You only come to say goodbye.

My only friend is the sun,

But the sun brings pain.

So I wait out the night,

Hoping for you to visit

And maybe,

For once,

You'll stay.
