A Volunteer

Location

What is it to hope, to dream, to wish

In a place where nothing works,

To want to try to fix

A hole with little corks.

That, I think is the problem,

A glass that is full of holes

With water leaking to the brim,

Like a child with a lost soul.

I just want to fix the broken

Or create a thing that will never break,

I know I can,

I just wonder how much time it will take.

Because noticing a problem takes instruction,

Filling a glass takes work

It takes dedication

It takes making a cork.

But what kind of cork can fix such a dysfunction?

And how much effort would that take?

People speak of problems as concauctions,

Or as a sacrifice for other people's sake.

The only difference is,

This is who I want to be,

I want to fix this.

I want people to see

I want to enstill hope, the want to dream, to wish

I want to make a place where everything works.

I want to show others how to fix.

I want to give people the corks.

This is what a job means,

Especially as an engineer,

It means to give others dreams.

It means to make a means

It means to be a volunteer.
