The Way We See Ourselves
Location
Falsities.
From a young
age, we are taught
to focus on
the
way we look. We are told to love ourselves, yet consistently
reminded to change
who we are, what
we look like,
how we act.
We strive for
perfection. And
why shouldn’t we?
What could be more
desirable than the
recognition of
emanating
absolute
perfection?
Each day we beg
for beauty, fortune and
praise with every smear of
makeup that disorients our lovely
faces, caught up in this false fantasy
that vanity conquers the real beauty that
surrounds us, the power of true uniqueness.
If I could change one thing, it would be to destroy
the unattainable quality described as pure perfection.
Because we are women. We are beautiful. We are free.
