Weightless Burdens

Paralyzing cold itches the skin while fleeing your nightmares
Eating only the snow that has frozen over your once warm heart
To sit in the front row of a wrestling match between you and your demons
To find yourself missing the green paper you used to bet on yourself
Entering your home to find an empty cave, no longer filled with life
You travel deeper into this empty cave and soon find yourself falling
Wind pulling at your hair like it’s attached to a puppet masters strings
The puppet master, the big man, your boss who gives you green, but no respect
Respect you crave, but don’t deserve because you want but don’t give
When you look in the mirror do you only see your imperfections?
Well that is because you are nothing but imperfect, a failure
No one wants you, not you mom or your dad, brothers or sisters, friends or lovers
Again you find yourself in the cold, frozen over with defeat
But… no one is going to judge you, not here at least, take my hand
Let’s fly
