What do monsters dream about?

Tue, 10/13/2015 - 22:03 -- esther_

a life that never was.

a person they will never be.

a love that was never given.

they dream about being free and maybe

that's why you didn't see them

hiding under your bed that time.

they tire from living in someone else's head so long

so they dream about

having one of their own.

they dream that they are wanted.

that their scars, their secrets, their wrongdoings, their mistakes;

are accepted in the eyes of others.

they dream about beauty being in the eye of the beholder,

but then they wake up.

beauty is absolute

and people still look under their beds in fear of monsters.

the monsters are cast into their shadows

and forced to prey on other people and their happiness,

because they were not so fortunate to obtain some for themselves.

during the day they live for other people,

during the night they dream about living for themselves.
