What Have I Become?

Location

Her routine consists of make-up and a dress.

A voice that booms across the stage.

A facade she wants to put to rest.

But they keep her here in this cage.

No one knows the war of not being enough.

The body that hates her for not being thin.

The family that doesn't believe she can achieve much.

The marks that line the sides of her skin.

No one knows why she loses herself in the sea.

Watching as the tears fill the walls of this space.

She tried to be everything they wanted her to be.

But now the darkness waits for her embrace.

The shadows blend her amongst their own.

Waiting for her to return home.
