What I Become

I find genuine peace
In living in the grasses
Far from the city noise
Where I can be free.
"Tell me something"
They ask as if an answer
Can exist without premeditation
"What would you be, dear,
When you body gives up?"
Heart stops,
Organs fail,
Skin is lost to the cold.
In dark days where these thoughts
Enter my mind like a stalking feline
Amber eyes gazing into future lives.
I would float limply,
Without destination or worry.
Without a body holding me back
My lungs never to return.
I would become the air you breathe.
Not to be within you,
But to be within myself,
What I used to be.
Innocent,
Gentle,
And pure.
