There is no honesty in a curtain

What it conceals could be either False or Naked

And sometimes it is Naked clothed in False garments

But what is False would never stand to be Naked

Because the audience might get an accidental peek at what is True

Causing False cheeks to shame themselves

So what is False would never stand to be Naked.

I tell myself that curtains don't need honesty

It is better to be False than to be Naked

Nobody wants to glimpse the undignified, uneven self I withhold

Nobody is accustomed to such brutal exposure

Nobody would accept my vulnerability
