What Would I Change?

You see that old lady struggling to carry in the groceries?

Or the nun trying to give the troubled teens blessed rosaries?

Do you notice the old migrant worker picking out only the perfect cherries?

Or his little daughter picking and sneaking mouthfuls of the wildberries?

All of these people teach us how to live through adversity.

But we are too consumed to notice-- what a pity!

If I could change the world no matter how big or small,

I would change it so we could be able to smile through it all.

That old lady who was struggling and feeling down,

Here comes a “troubled” teen to help her and there goes her frown.

The nun who was trying to save the young people’s soul,

Was able to get to one person and helped him reach his life goal.

The migrant worker is working hard and is underpaid,

A stranger gave him some extra money-- He was able to spoil his daughter for a day.

Smiles can change the world a person sees,

It can make butterflies out of bees.

But it all starts with one random act of pure kindness,

Do something small and remove this world’s blindness.
