Change the way people think

about each other

they way they talk 

about their brothers

and sisters and mothers

the way they talk about girls'

bodies and boys' swag

and what she did with who 

and when was the exact moment

she became a slut

and a whore, and a bitch

or the fact that she always was.

Change the way we do it now,

we could stop pretending we're friends

and maybe actually become that,

and actually listen.

listen to what your teachers are saying.

take the advice your parents are giving,

don't listen to the ads, the tvs, the popular music,

stop turning up, 

and getting high,

cause you're not thinking

of the words coming out of your mouth

of the feelings of the recipient 

mostly cause they're not human to you,

but if they were,

would you change the way you think about them?

and talk of them as if they had feelings?

maybe?

maybe not, because we've gone too far

we're all self-centered and mean,

making high school a hell-hole 

that we just gotta get out of

that we can't wait any longer

or we'll die

because that's we want to do 

when we're there

we rather die than face those people

that are ripping us to pieces 

an inch at a time,

but if we could

change the way these kids are thinking

they way they are talking about each other,

I'd hope we would

you know, ... if we could.
