What would I change?

What would I change about the world?

There are many things, but let's give it a whirl.

This world that's filled with poisoned air and polluted lakes.

Where education runs everyone the same

Where society treats everyone the same

Where if you can't keep up

You're lost behind

And good luck swimming up stream

Because you've got rapids of media and slander and propaganda

Hurdling toward you

You are told to look a certain way

Be a certain size

Act like this, know this

Well, what happens if you can't?

Or if you're just a tiny bit different

(They accept a small amount of uniqueness, but only if it conforms)

If you are quiet they think you are either stupid or plotting murder

If you're awkward, you're an outcast.

In our society the word Special has become bad.

When we're little we are told to be different and daring

That we are special.

And that it is okay to accept help.

But as we grow older,

society says that we must conform-

No longer grasp to that child's dream, like play things.

Those who don't are made fun of or pitied.

What society doesn't know, or refuses to acknowledge, is that people learn at different rates,

They look different, and are different sizes.

Everyone is beautiful.

Everyone is special.

There is really no reason for all of this to escalate to self-harm.

We can find a way.

We can be inclusive.

We can be listeners. And dreamers. And friends.

Because that weirdo in the corner could be the next Einstein or DaVinci

Don't be the cause of their crying.
