What Would You Change Scholarship Slam

We live in a society full of inequality
An open drawer or a closed book
It shouldn’t even matter, the way we look
Insecurities are our bullies
We are flowers being plucked of our petals
Society is agony
Plucking away our strengths and replacing it with insects and drugs
Eating us alive with tiny, little bugs
Until we are starving and carving
Should it matter, our weight?
Would that be a good escape?
Does the shape of our nose matter where it goes?
We worry of judgment and capability
Thanks so much society
Telling us where we need to be
How we need to feed
Stripping us of pride and feeding us with greed
So I have a new suggestion
Let’s destroy our own depression
Let’s bring up our self esteem
And lay down society
‘Cause what really defines beauty?
We are all a nail on a wall
Hammered down by judgment and fears
So wash off your make up and dry your tears
Clean up the blood from behind your two ears
Don’t pierce them with lies
‘Cause that’s not what you hear
Time travels by far
So love who you are
Be your own kind of beauty
And be the star of your own movie
If I could change one thing
It wouldn’t matter what they think
Don’t care what they say
‘Cause you were born this way
We’d live life as we do
We’d build each other up
Instead of tearing to the ground
We’d be held down to the this rightful bound
In this peaceful world all around
Hold down your guns and razors
Peace is what we aim for
Stop vomiting to please others
Link arms with our sisters and brothers
Don’t force an end to something you can’t control
‘Cause eventually, we’ll cross the bridge and pay the toll
A better self-esteem is what I aim to dream
A better life for you and me
