When the Lillies Sing.

"Count your blessings"
My grandmother would always say
"We didn't have such things back in my day"
She saw through my ungrateful to the resounding joy inside
"That won't get you far," she'd say, referring to my pride
I always wondered why
She seemed to have an unbreakable smile
She'd hum while she baked and dance every once in a while
And "Hold your crown"
My grandmother would demand
As she kissed my forehead and held my hand
"You're only as smart as you desire to be"
She would say to me
And I never missed the meaning
Pure love like that is the strongest motivator
Love fuels a greater cause
Seeing through built up walls and exploited flaws.
I am who I am because my grandmother loved me
I have the strength, the valor, and the muscle to be who I want to be.
And when the Lillie's sing, the tune is carried all throughout the land and sky
And if eyes are left dry, the Lillies sing "It's okay to cry"
