When the Rain Doesn't Stop

The rain pours outide
This library echos with the raindrops.
Singing a stormy song.
Outside,
It is a different song to sing.
Animals,
Former pets,
Try to dodge the raindrops
With no prevail.
Wet and shivering,
They huddle in alleyways
Under cars,
Scared and starving.
Skinny to the bone,
Soon to be riddled
With deadly disease.
Animals,
Former pets,
Desendants on former pets,
Just wanting a home,
Just wanting to survive,
Just wanting some love.
So as it rain outside,
In this quiet library,
I thibk of the wild kittens
I've seen at a park,
Wishing they would trust me,
Hoping the find a place,
A place to call home.
