When You Thought I Wasnt Looking

When you thought I wasn’t looking

You hung my drawings in your office

Teaching me no matter what I do

You’ll always be proud

When you thought I wasn’t looking

I watched you smile and admire the day

Teaching me that this world is a beautiful place

And each day is a gift in every single way

When you thought I wasn’t looking

You took special care of grandma

Teaching me that all we really have

Is our family, and that’s all that matters

When you thought I wasn’t looking

You picked Nick up after he fell

Teaching me that when he needs it

That I will need to be there as well

When you thought I wasn’t looking

I watched you hold dads hand

Teaching me to wait to find

The perfect kind of man

When you thought I wasn’t looking

You got all dressed up

Teaching me my love for all things

Glitter, bows and pearls

When you thought I wasn’t looking

You went out of your way

To make it to every school event

Every project, meeting and play

And knowing you would be there

Always made my day

Just knowing that no matter what

You would find a way

When you thought I wasn’t looking

I watched you say a prayer

Teaching me that even when I’m alone

There’s always someone there

When you thought I wasn’t looking

You succeeded at nearly everything you did

Teaching me that with dedication

I could accomplish things I once thought were big

When you thought I wasn’t looking

I felt you kiss my cheek

On all those nights you got home late

I never was asleep

So for all these and many more

Little things you do

Always remember that

Who I am is all because of you

Thank you for all the things you did

When you thought I looked away

My family
