Who Am I?

Who Am I?

By:Bella White

I am bent.

I am not broken, but rather I am bent.

I am bent because of the things that have happened to me.

But those things are not me.

They are just a characteristic of my personality.

They are part of what defines me.

I am not what others think of me or who they say I am.

They say I am broken;

I say I am bent.

They say I am hurting;

I say I am healing.

They love to switch what I say

All to the opposite, to the negative

I say “I am gay”

They say “I hate all men”

I say “I am happy”

They say “so the pills are working?”

I say “I am athletic”

They say “so you aren’t a real girl”

I have had my ups and I have had my downs

But, the important thing is, I always have a friend to go to.

Although my family hasn’t always been there;

I’ve always had someone who loves and appreciates me.

I am not broken.

I am bent.
