Who I Am

That kid you see sitting quietly doing nothing.

You know he’s unable to use his words to express himself.

Scared of things he could say,

the biggest thing to him were the words that he wrote down everyday.

Poetry taught him to be free and he felt like he was in his own league.

Poetry was his outlet, to tell the world who he really was with every written word.

While he was scared to speak the truth, that special book held everything he knew.

Poetry taught him that he’s more than what others thought.

He was more than anything ever written in life.

Poetry taught him expression among all things.

Poetry taught him to be him.

Poetry taught me, everything about me.
