Who She Sees

She washes her face off, In the bathroom with the lights off As she gets ready for bed. Never taking the moment to look in The mirror that looks at her. Criticizing herself As others had done to her before. Too afraid of what she might see, She goes from the sink to the towel to dry off her face. She knows that she is not the first Nor would she the last to be judge, So why does it bother her now? Taking a step towards the door But realizing she can’t leave, her curiosity traps her there To face her fears. Wondering what she might see And if she’ll like what she sees. She turns around to find Satisfaction in what she’s become so far, But frustration because she still wants more.
