Whole Foods: Your Neighborhood Distraction

We got apples and oranges and all of the greens

We got salmon and soup pea and vitamin C.

From farmer's markets, to Whole Foods, to your mom and pop shops,

Together we have made our health a priority, but this has to stop.

Afternoon jogs and yoga on the side

Clearly these activities are disguising a divide

I know we love working out

But it is not working out.

I think that milk in our cart is expiring soon

But we should just leave it there, and let it be

Please just buy it; I don't want to feel guilty

I can just drink it and pretend it is heathy for me.

These aisles send me to an atmosphere full of corn mazes

In a hospital, casketed in by the white walls and absence of windows

Why do they keep it so cold in here? Why are you so cold in here?

Have you ever noticed how painful fluorescent lighting is?

They do more than just illuminate, they paint a mood.

In my efforts to create a healthy life with you

I became a feeble walking heart attack with clear skin and acceptable cholesterol levels

You became a health hooked junkie with the traits of a devil

Our distraction became our foundation,

Our obsessions became our attitudes

I have checked every aisle, but I can’t find a healthy heart at Whole Foods.
