As i sit in AP lang

My desk is under the light

But why

Does the light shine on me?

As I sit in my room

Doing homework til midnight

I sit underneath the light

But why

Does the light shine on me?

As I sacrifice my sleep and social life

To keep my grades up high

The morning light shines through my blinds

But why

Does the light shine on me?

As I stare into the light of the computer

To complete my college course in high school,

The light stares back at me

BUT WHY

does the light shine on me?

As I clean out the cages

of the cats at the shelter,

The light in their eyes reflect back as they peer at me

But why

Does THAT light shine on me?

As i take part as an intern

It's an appetizer for my future

I'm told it's bright

But why

is it bright for me?

Now it's a month past July

I am sitting in front of this boss

I am nervous and shy

Dressed for the occassion

hope she will decide

To hire me

She does!

I walk out the door as it close behind me

But why

Does the door close BEHIND me?

AP stats, Ap lit, S.I.E., and dual enrollment

I take these courses to challenge myself

Along with the unemployment

It doesn't matter what path I take left or right

I'll take the one less traveled by

My goals will only get higher

And as a result

My light

Will only

Shine brighter
