why one stride gets you no where

why the sound of my size 7 sole on chilled linoleum

is so satisfying

yet i’ve gone nowhere

 

why didn’t we stop after taking just one

call it quits!

well that was fun, but

i’ve got nothing done,

so i guess I’ll just

sit. 

 

what if we wrote down A and stopped after that

gave it it’s sound, 

and once again sat.

a language stifled 

because of how insignificant one letter is

why keep trying, cause with A we got nothing

 

when i tried to write poetry 

and pushed a single glowing keyboard button

i chose R 

and how did that sound? 

like "rrrrrrrrrr"

thats for sure

 

but what we forget

is the sum

of our efforts.

what happens when we string them together. 

did you ever read a book that was only one letter?

one foot after the other, thats how you walk a mile

 

well i would go anywhere

my short legs could carry me

if i remembered those small strides

could add up to something

and that the combinations are words, 

they come from the letters

 

so next time you take a step,

or punch a key on that board

remember the product is the reward.

and one after the other 

is the way to success

so keep going.
