To the Woman that Guided Me into the Light

Her dark brown eyes have seen it all.

From violence within her culture,

To the tragic death of a loved one.

She is screaming.

She screams equality.

She screams, “...with liberty and justice for all,”

Yet there is no liberty and justice for all.

There is the injustice.

There is no liberty.

There are people who are blind that do not know about the injustice,

The no liberty there is in the U.S.

I was the one that was blind.

I was the one that ignored the ones that needed my voice the most,

She guided me through the darkness,

And helped me seek for the light at the end of the tunnel.

My beautiful, powerful Blackmagic friend Aryanna.

She has opened my eyes to see.

To see that this world is not just black and white,

That this world is full of beautiful colors.

Full of blues, purples, reds, yellows, and so much more.

She has made me look into the places that I was afraid to look at.

She has made my voice stronger,

Louder.

My voice speaks volumes because of her.

My voice speaks about the injustices that are going on,

About the inequalities for the people of color,

About the acceptance of a person’s identity,

And so much more.

I used to drive by those who I felt I can’t be friends with them because they are this race or this ethnicity.

I used to judge others based on their stereotypes,

Yet I would get mad because they judge me.

She has powers.

Her powers are no superman nor wonder woman.

Her powers are to fight.

Not your typical punch, kick, slap;

But fighting for the rights of others.

Fighting for not just only her people,

But people from all over.

No matter your race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and so much more,

She will fight for you.

For what you are.

She will lead you into a world that has no peace,

And will ask you if you will take her hand,

And help her fight.

To fight for peace.

To fight for, “...liberty and justice for all.”

I know I did,

And you should too.

This is Aryanna’s power.

To make someone see clearer,

And as her sidekick,

I will fight too.

I am fighting.

I have been fighting for years,

And many years to come.

I couldn’t have done it without the help of my beautiful, Blackmagic woman Aryanna.

And as a Latina,

I am fighting for everyone’s right, too.
