Women's Sorrow

Then said the Man, Speak to us of women’s sorrows

She responded:

The daughter will exist as a bird.

For her childhood will be caged by social norms;

Never to slouch or leave home,

She shall suffocate.

The mother will exist as a tree

For her adult life will be spent providing for others.

Stripped of her love she shall provide warmth

Embracing others she shall provide a home.

The grandmother will exist as dirt.

For the seeds she fostered will grow to steal her light.

Her ten foot trunk will slowly shrink.

In the darkness of neglect she will become earth.

Her purpose has been fulfilled.
