Words I wrote at 11:26AM 18 days before my birthday

In some other universe 50 years from now we are sitting at a table with a red checkered table cloth. I’m sitting across from you sipping my coffee while doodling on a crossword I was too bored to finish. The birds chirp outside and I look out to see them squabbling over the last peanut in the bird feeder and I smile to myself because I think about how simple things are to a sparrow. The hardest conflict they will have today is who gets this last peanut because they refuse to share. In some other universe I am thinking of this universe thinking “wow I am so lucky things didn't turn out that way. I look away from the window and back up to you but I cannot picture your face. I can see your hands holding a mug, your legs crossed under the table, your hair slightly ruffled from a good night’s rest, but I cannot see your face. I can smell the way your car smelled as you drove me around. I can hear your voice that is now a little choppy and not so youthful as it was all those years ago. I can feel your lips and your touch and your hair between my fingers but I cannot imagine your face.

My writings are less like poetry and much more like brain vomit
