A World Apart

Deep within the forest, inside the pine tree’s heart,

Run the dearest of children to their own land set apart,

The sun on the dirt, the trail well known,

But to all who thread it a question is thrown,

A child no more, though wish she could be,

Love that is dying was carved in that tree,

The journey of questions, the journey of truth,

The trail asks dearly, “What has become of you?”

While the sun knows the story, and the moon knows the heart,

The girl knows the whole truth from ending to start,

The love may be dead now, we see this is true,

And children are gone now, sad is this too,

But deep in the forest, the inside pine tree’s heart,

Awaits a trail of evergreens, it leads to the world apart.
