The World I Live

Do not be fooled by her disguises,

hidden beneath fake layers of herself,

there lies the real girl,

trapped within a small cage,

trying to break free,

spread her wings, and fly away.

Extraversion is the norm,

introversion is thought strange.

In this place of uncertainty,

she is strong, yet rendered weak,

because she is one who is shy to speak,

Do not be fooled by her disguises,

the shields she’s made as her defenses,

or the masks she wears to play a part.

She’s trying to break free,

spread her wings, and fly away.

Those words she says are just a front.

So cruel, they seem, yet hardly none,

stop to see the broken girl beyond,

hiding behind her crumbling facade.

Do not be fooled by her disguises,

her fear’s creation, to prevent insanity.

Somewhere beneath is the real she,

trying to break free,

spread her wings, and fly away.

This fear she dreads

of outside forces,

inner turmoil,

the fear that torments her

every day without end.

It is the world I see,

this fearsome place,

perched on a mountain top

of numerous masks.

This is THE WORLD I LIVE.
