Worldly Woes

It seems all around us we hear the world cry.

We turn on the news to see the people scream and  lie.

Our leaders sew stories to keep us in line.

Our mothers pray that soon all things will be fine.

A sad thought to think how good acts seem strange

Fear of agendas, of secrets, of meanings that change

What is this world that we live in where people cannot see

How misguided are those that think they are free

Who teaches us this hate?

Who teaches us to fear?

Those are the questions whose answers I'd like to hear

What happened to peace?

What happened to love?

Why are these the things we promptly rid ourselves of?

We ask these questions, yet expect no answer.

For the world is but a stage, and you are the dancer.
