Worthwhile Fight

It’s the worthwhile fight I trek through,

Knowing that at the end I’ll be next to you.

The longing wait, filled with sacred conversations,

A lovingness with hints of preservation,

A hopeful fleet of glorious endeavors

That ring of a hope of forever.

The moments when I wish I would’ve stayed

Radiate more through my days,

As I continually realize all I’d do

If it meant seeing you.

What remained was my heart,

Even from one thousand miles apart.

On the days when I feel like going home,

At least I know you’re on the other end of the phone.

Every call reminding me that someday soon,

Miles will fall to inches, as we’re in the same room.

Even though the only thing holding my heart is you,

Soon you’ll be holding me too.
