Writing From the Heart

I'm writing from the heart

To tell you I'm not special.

I don't deserve special treament.

I don't deserve your pity.

I don't need your pity.

I'm writing from the heart

To tell you I love writing- almost as much as  I love eating.

(and that's saying a lot)

Next to performing onstage,

Pouring my heart out on paper

Is an irreplacable feeling.

I'm writing from the heart

To tell you that I try.

I try my best and nothing less.

Sometimes I even find myself caring too much.

About everything.

I'm writing from the heart

To tell you that like everyone else,

I have struggled.

But even though I've struggled,

And suffered,

I've overcome,

And conquered:

The madness and insanity

The lies and rejection

The cuts and the scars

The blood and the pain

The consumption of self-hate

The swallowing of my fears

The drowning of my tears.

I'm writing from the heart

To tell you that none of it matters.

The details of the past,

Don't matter.

Why should they?

This is now.

And  I am here.

I am here to tell you

I'm writing from my heart.
