Year of Lasts

Today.

Today is my last first day of high school.

Some may think it's a blessing in disguise,

but I see it as a day of mourning.

It's that last time your mom will be taking pictures with the sign that says

"12th grade!"

The last time your dad will give you the

"No boys, study hard" taking to

The last time you will step into your school for the first time.

It's not quite a time for goodbye to the people,

but more of a time to say goodbye to the firsts.

Goodbye last first day of school,

Goodbye last first band competition,

Goodbye last first football game.

It's a bittersweet time.

But like everything,

It's time to say goodbye.

Goodbye high school,

You were the last thing I thought I'd enjoy.
