A Year or Two

A year or two ago, I would never know I would be where I am today.

A year or two ago, I was young in mind and terrified of what was to come.

A year or two ago, I was not here, where I stand now, but there.

Then, still in the early years of my youth, I thought I had seen so much

Still somehow I haven't seen enough, now

I anticipate the excitement of independence and the intimacy of love

Terrified of the idea that push could turn to shove

Living in today I astonish myself, dealing with so much

School, sports, relationships,  just everyday life

I'm still in my youth and enjoying myself despite the odds

A year or two from now, I will be looking back to today

A year or two from now,  I will be off on my new own way

A year or two from now, I will not be exactly the same

A year or two from now, I will have grown even more than from where I once came
