Tell me, have you ever had to lie?
Have you ever had to cry?
Have you ever fought for approval of your peers?
Have you ever tried to fight your fears?
If you have, it’s okay. I will catch your tears.
For your burdens are mine as well.
I carry them all, as you can tell.
Something so easy and simple to do,
Yet you don’t seem to have a clue.
And yet you seem to presuppose,
as do the black and haunting crows,
that everyone will hide from you
everything you fear they’ll do.
The chiming of your knell,
to you is like a hidden spell.
A place reached by knives and spears
and the flame that slowly sears
all the tears that fell from your eye
and left you sitting, wondering why.
