You Are

You are the music singing of life. String the notes into words, And call it poetry. Valley flowers, hope is sworn. Crystal water and hummingbirds: Art, in its natural form. You are the waves crashing in. Sail the distance to our neighbor, And connect this broken globe together. Earth is jagged, sharp stoned rim.  This war keeps us so far away, While they blame a bottomless ocean.  You are a candle shining through; Light up the world with your soul, And defeat the darkness with your flame. A fire has so much power. She can destroy or cleanse; With fire, the night is brighter. You are the memories replaying in my head. Let go of the faults we share, And hold onto the way we feel together. If we let it, our love will climb. Posing for photos capturing us, Your smile, frozen in time. We are the feeling of a summer day. Glide a kite over the solstice,  And strum a violin to busy faces. Let’s be happy now. In this place we are trapped, But we can make it home.
