You are my Brother

Joe, when you were young you were adventurous,

the fun things you liked were dangerous.

Music you enjoyed when you played the violin and drums,

and, watching you perform was inspiring and fun.

In my youth you taught me to play Chess at your leisure,

it felt easy to learn, and you made it such a pleasure.

Your bodybuilding regiment I would admire,

for the love of Sports you were always on fire.

You are my brother!

Many times we discussed creating an invention,

we thought nothing could stop these novel dreams in motion.

You were always there with a helping hand,

why some did not appreciate you, I will never understand.

You joined the Marines when your heart was quite pristine,

when you left the Service your core with pain would scream.

I am sorry that your dreams were not always what they seemed,

now those images are free to be redeemed.

You are my brother!

The life you lived was valuable, more than you will ever know,

because the love you left behind in our hearts are aglow.

Perhaps in this new place you will return to the God of your youth,

you know that sometimes that is the one and only truth.

When you get to Heaven, say Hello to Mom for me,

I know there, with her, your heart will be truly free.

And now, your life has come to and end,

to a faraway place you have gone…

…still, you are my brother!
