You Can Teach the Ignorant

Location

"Do as I say, not as I do."

the familiar sting of the phrase can date back to you,

to your memories of a child hearing curses

and threats,

watching mom and dad fight

and saying "go to bed"

"Do as I say, not as I do."

but do you realize what that turns into?

you're creating a world that mirrors our country:

obidient soldiers

corrupted leaders.

the only ones left are the hypocritical,

and they will always do

as you do.

"Do as I say, not as I do"

you know you're doing wrong

but leading by example isn't your bottle of wine.

you'd rather push the next generation until they fight

instead of teaching them why you're

not

always

right.

so keep spilling that venom

that slips down the corner or your lips.

"Do as I say, not as I do."

because you can teach the ignorant

but with a hypocrite, you're screwed.
