You Take My Breath Away

(another silly poem I wrote in high school)

I cannot breathe when you look at me,
For so many it’s incredibly hard to see,
I cry whenever you give be a simple friendly hug,
My chest hurts; I should be dead for how far you’ve dug,
The world froze when I gazed into your eyes,
It rushes around me; the time flies.

The only one who makes my face cherry,
When you smile my heart takes flight like a fairy,
Whenever I think of you my head begins to ache,
Sometimes I wish I could give you a good shake,
I wave my hands in front of you; your eyes don’t even blink,
I’d hate to let you go but now’s the time rethink.

You didn’t even understand how much I longed for you,
Why didn’t you understand that my love for you was true,
You’ve opened yourself up for so many,
I couldn’t see why I wasn’t as good as any,
I’ll wait for you to see; by then it will be too late,
Because we aren’t meant to be; that is the curse of fate.
